If you were to look up the word “Righteousness” in the dictionary, it would be a little different from what Jesus describes. We look at Jesus speaking on the “Sermon on the Mount” of how we are to obtain pure righteousness.

We also share of how we are implementing a curriculum for a 6-8 men small group retreat.

Matthew 22:37-39   Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

These three verses have a huge part in our walk with Jesus as we live out of faith. We discuss how this has affected our lives.

Tell others about Jesus by engaging in Internet evangelism:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16

He also shares on how he builds up other men in Christ to be better for themselves, family and the community.

Mark and Mike share about the importance of Godly counsel and doing life with others.  They take a look at the standard Jesus set.  The disciples lived in community, ministered in pairs, and were accountable to one another.

I am guilty! I have been known to say some of these phrases in my past: “I really felt the presence of God this weekend in worship and church:” or “I’m having a hard time lately…and I just don’t feel God with me.”

I have seen and witnessed the power of God in my life and others around me. On the other hand, I’ve also have been through life when my Lord has be silent. This happens more than the other. I have questioned, “How can I get this feeling or experience back again? Has God put me on this earth just to have an experience?” 

Yes…. and No.

God wants me to experience His Love, Power, Holiness, Forgiveness, etc. But there will be many times when He is silent. It is during this time, we can suffer. His Word tells us that we will go through these trials. My sufferings made me look at myself and as I read His Word, I compared my life to Jesus and His disciples.

The Cost Of Following Jesus

Acts 9:16 It is revealed to Paul that he will suffer if he is to follow Jesus. Luke 23:26 Jesus said, “And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”

Eight years ago after pondering these verses along with others scriptures, I have decided that I don’t need to get a daily experience from God. I am sold out for Him and will accept anything that comes my way. My job is to make Him known to all. I want to give instead of receive. My reward will be to experience Him for eternity when I’m in heaven. Until then…..there is work to be done.

Dating is not just for the single guy. We will share stories from ourselves on how to keep the romance alive after you say “I do.”

We discuss what steps to take to get beyond the hurts in our life. Jesus gives us the best example of forgiveness  while hanging on the cross and how that example can be used in our own lives.

I consider myself a simple man compared to these guys and other men. However, I do feel in my spirit that the Lord has a purpose for me in this world. I feel at times when I read God’s Word, that I’m reading about my own life. I just want to be a vessel of God and that His power to be evident for all to see.

In Act 4:13, the Sanhedrin were left speechless by Peter & John, who was also considered ordinary men and worked on Christ behalf. Peter & John also worked together for the gospel…..not alone.

We can also find in Mark 6:7, that Jesus commanded the disciples to travel in two’s, work and preach to the lost. I have often pondered why Jesus had them travel in two’s. Let me share something that happened in my life that changed me forever.

When I first became a Christian, my thoughts of a “Christian Man” was live for Christ solo without any accountability to keep me in check from making ungodly decisions. After living many years like this, I was ready to leave my marriage and to turn my back on God. I found myself asking, “How can this be happening to me?”

These two scriptures are a few answers that I found in the Bible to answer that question. If Jesus wanted his disciples to follow this model, should I not also? I quickly repented and found Godly men that would hold me accountable in everything in my life. Its been the best decision I ever made. I was trying to be the “Lone Ranger” when it should have been “Band of Brothers”.

What does a “Band of Brothers” detail? Shakespeare gives a great example:

We are all brothers in Christ taking each others burden, praying for one another, encouraging and holding each other accountable. My life has been changed forever by this example.

About 6 months ago, Mike and I had the vision to start a talk show to empower the Christian man. This was placed on hold for 4 months due to setbacks from the quality of free website hosting. The site improved and we launched the vision again with 3 episodes under our belt
